Maitama District Area Guide

Maitama District is in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in the northern part of Abuja's original planned city. It is one of the Phase One districts identified by the Federal Capital Development Authority. Its district name describes a planning area used in land and infrastructure records, as well as a residential address.

Wuse 2, the Central Area and Katampe provide neighbouring reference points. Aguiyi Ironsi Street and Shehu Shagari Way are main road references for the district. An estate name, road junction or broad Maitama address does not establish a property's legal district or plot boundary; the allocation and survey documents should identify those.

Maitama Extension is separately recognised in the city's development plans. Check whether a property is recorded in the original district or the extension when comparing addresses, infrastructure provision and access routes. This is especially useful for buyers checking land records or renters viewing properties on the edges of the commonly used Maitama area.
