Old GRA (Government Reserved Area) is Port Harcourt's most historically prestigious residential district, established during the colonial era and home to some of the largest private plots in the city. Wide, tree-lined roads, sprawling compounds, and an exceptionally calm atmosphere make it one of Nigeria's most distinctive residential addresses. Three-to-five bedroom detached homes rent from ₦5m–₦18m per year. Power supply is very good — oil company residential compounds and premium buildings run 20–24 hours. Security is excellent with street patrols and proximity to the Government House perimeter. Flooding risk is low given the GRA's elevated position. Home to several oil company head offices, government residences, and international hotels (Presidential Hotel). Best for oil executives, multinational heads, and the Port Harcourt elite.
