Aminu Kano Crescent is one of the two main commercial crescents of Wuse 2, a district of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory. The other is Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent. Aminu Kano Crescent is best known for Banex Plaza and Emab Plaza, the phone, computer and electronics hub of Abuja, and the rest of the crescent is lined with banks, offices, shops, restaurants and hotels. Homes are on the streets leading off it, and they follow Wuse 2 rents, which are in the upper-middle part of the Abuja market.
Where Aminu Kano Crescent is
Wuse 2 is a Phase 1 district in the centre of Abuja, next to Maitama and a short drive from the Central Business District. Its layout is built around two long commercial crescents, Aminu Kano Crescent and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, with shorter residential streets, many of them named after African cities, filling the space between and around them. Banex Junction, beside Banex Plaza, is the landmark most people use to locate the crescent, and the junction with Kashim Ibrahim Way is another well-known point on it. The district as a whole is described in the Wuse 2 area guide.
What is on Aminu Kano Crescent
The Banex end is the busiest. Banex Plaza and Emab Plaza next to it are multi-storey complexes of small shops selling and repairing phones, laptops, accessories and electronics, and they draw shoppers from across the city. Around them are more plazas, bank branches, eateries and street-side traders, and the traffic to match.
Along the rest of the crescent the uses are more corporate: bank branches, company and agency offices, professional firms, clinics, pharmacies, supermarkets, boutiques, restaurants, lounges and hotels. Most plots that were once houses have been converted or rebuilt as plazas and office blocks.
What property is like, and what it costs
Residential property is on the streets and closes off the crescent: low and mid-rise blocks of flats, serviced apartments, terraces and a shrinking number of detached houses, many of which are now offices. Short-let apartments are common because of the business and government visitors the district attracts. There are no dependable figures for the crescent alone, so use the indicative annual ranges for the district:
- Wuse 2 2-bedroom flat: ₦2,000,000 – ₦4,000,000 per annum
- Wuse 2 3-bedroom upscale apartment: ₦4,000,000 – ₦10,000,000 per annum
Within those ranges, serviced blocks on quiet streets a little away from the crescent sit at the top, because tenants get the central location without the noise. Flats close to the Banex end, where traffic, parking pressure and street trading are heaviest, sit lower. Frontage on the crescent itself is commercial space and is priced as shops and offices. Wuse 2 as a whole costs less than Maitama next door and more than Garki, Utako or Jabi. Landlords generally expect a year or more in advance; renting in Abuja explains the full move-in cost.

Getting around from Aminu Kano Crescent
The location is central: Maitama, Wuse, the Central Business District and Garki are all close, and taxis and ride-hailing cars are always available. The Banex end is one of the most congested spots in the district during shopping hours, and parking there is difficult. The rest of the crescent moves better but is still a busy commercial road through the working day and into the evening around the restaurants and lounges.
Who Aminu Kano Crescent suits
- Professionals and business owners who want to live in the commercial and social centre of Abuja
- Retailers, phone and electronics dealers, banks, clinics, restaurants and firms that want the footfall of Wuse 2

If you want quieter streets, compare the streets of Maitama at a higher budget, or Utako and Jabi at a lower one. Garki is the other central district with a large stock of flats.
What to check before you rent or buy
- Noise and traffic: visit during shopping hours and in the evening, particularly near the Banex end.
- Parking: confirm spaces inside the compound.
- Use next door: check whether neighbouring houses have become offices, lounges or guest houses.
- Power and service charge: ask about generator hours, diesel and what the charge covers.
- Title and use, for a purchase: verify the Certificate of Occupancy at the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) office, and confirm that the approved land use allows what you plan to do with the plot.
