Terrace vs maisonette: is there a difference?
In Nigerian property marketing, “terrace” and “maisonette” are often used interchangeably, and in many listings they refer to the same product. Strictly speaking, a maisonette is a residential unit occupying two or more floors within a larger building (similar to a duplex flat), while a terrace is a house in a row. In practice in Nigeria, a maisonette often simply means a terrace house — particularly when marketed by upmarket developers who prefer the term. When viewing a property advertised as a maisonette, confirm whether it is a standalone house in a row or a flat within a larger building.
