Addo Road, also spelt Ado Road, is the main road that runs from the Ajah roundabout on the Lekki-Epe Expressway to Badore, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. It is a busy mixed-use corridor: shops, markets, banks, schools and churches on the frontage, and a long series of gated estates and open residential streets leading off it. Where Addo Road starts and ends
The road begins at the Ajah roundabout, under the Ajah flyover, which is also the busiest transport point in the area. It runs away from the expressway through a dense commercial stretch, passes the turning for Langbasa Road and continues to Badore, where it ends at the lagoon and the Badore ferry jetty. The Ajah end is the oldest and most built-up; the Badore end is newer, greener and more estate-led. What is on Addo Road
Near the roundabout the frontage is almost entirely commercial: shops and plazas, food sellers, bank branches, pharmacies, fuel stations, mechanics and building-materials dealers. Further along there are private schools, churches, supermarkets, eateries and small hotels between the estate gates. Daily needs are easy to meet without leaving the road.
Housing comes in two forms. The first is the open street: standalone blocks of mini flats and 2 and 3-bedroom flats, and compounds of several small units, reached directly from the road or from an untarred side street. The second is the gated estate: terraces, semi-detached and detached duplexes and blocks of flats behind a gate, with a residents’ association that collects a levy for security, refuse and sometimes roads. Getting around from Addo Road
Almost every journey goes through the Ajah roundabout, and that is the main drawback of the road. Traffic builds towards the roundabout in the morning and away from it in the evening, and the commercial stretch near it is slow for much of the day. Buses, tricycles and motorcycles run the length of the road, and the ferry jetty at Badore offers a water route for some commuters.
