What is the Paystack fee?
The short answer
Paystack takes your payment. It adds a small fee on top of the price. You see the fee before you pay.
How to see the fee before you pay
Step 1: Start to pay.
Press "Confirm and Pay" at checkout. Or press "Pay now" or "Pay" on your stay page. A payment box opens.
Step 2: Read the first line.
It says "Your stay", or "On your bill" for a bill. This is the price.
Step 3: Read "Paystack fee (paid by you)".
This is Paystack’s charge for taking your payment.
Step 4: Read "You pay".
This is the price plus the fee. It is the whole amount that leaves your account.
Step 5: Press the "Pay" button.
It shows the same amount as "You pay". Paystack’s window then opens.
Good to know: Don’t want to pay yet? Press "Not now". Nothing is taken.

What is Paystack?
Paystack is the company that takes payments for stays on Cabans.
You pay in Paystack’s own window. You can use a card, a bank transfer or USSD. USSD means paying with a code you dial on your phone.
Your card details never reach Cabans.
When do I pay the fee?
Each time you pay through Paystack. That can be for:
- Your booking.
- A bill from your host.
- New dates that cost more.
- Extra nights, when you extend your stay.
- Extras from the stay shop, like bottled water.
Is the fee refunded?
No. The payment box says "The fee is not refunded."
A refund gives back what you paid for your stay. It does not give back Paystack’s fee.
Say you cancel in time. You get back all you paid for the stay. The Paystack fee stays with Paystack.
Does the fee change the price of the stay?
No. The price in the booking box stays the same.
Paystack adds its fee only when you pay. The box shows it before you press "Pay".
Questions people ask
Who gets the Paystack fee?
Paystack does. It is their charge for taking your payment. Your host does not get it.
Is the fee the same for every payment?
No. It depends on the amount. The payment box always shows the exact fee before you pay.
Why does the box say "Shown by Paystack"?
We could not work the fee out for you. Paystack shows it in its own window before you pay.
What is the smallest amount I can pay?
₦1,000 (one thousand naira). A smaller bill cannot be paid. Add more extras, or ask your host.
Do I get the fee back if the host says no?
No. You get back everything you paid for the stay, but not Paystack’s fee.
