Your tenancy and invites
How to set up a tenancy
The short answer
Open "Rent collection" and press "Set up a tenancy". Add your property, tenant and rent schedule. You can then invite the tenant by email.
Step by step
Step 1: Open "Rent collection" and press "Set up a tenancy".
Use the business profile that manages the property. You can set up a tenancy without linking a listing.
Step 2: Fill in "Property name" and "Property address".
Use "Link to a rent listing (optional)" if you want to connect an existing listing. Leave "No linked listing" if you do not.
Step 3: Fill in "Tenant name" and "Tenant email address".
Check the email address with your tenant first. They must accept the invite with an account using that address.
Step 4: Enter rent for one period and choose "Rent frequency".
Choose "Yearly", "Quarterly" or "Monthly". Fill in "Tenancy start date" and "First rent due date". Use "Tenancy end date (optional)" if needed.
Step 5: Set "Remind the tenant before rent is due (days)".
Enter how many days before the due date the reminder should be sent. Add "Notes (optional)" if needed.
Step 6: Check the invitation choice and press "Set up a tenancy".
Tick "Email the tenant an invitation now" to send it during setup. Your business must be approved before you can send an invite.
Good to know: Until approval, the invitation choice is greyed out with the reason. You can still save the tenancy.
Do it now
Check the saved schedule
The saved tenancy opens after setup. Read "Tenancy details" and check the tenant email and "Rent schedule".
Check "First rent due" and "Reminder days before rent is due" too. Keep these in line with what you agreed with your tenant.
