The frontage is commercial: bank branches, company offices, shopping plazas, furniture and car showrooms, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, fast-food outlets, lounges, guest houses and hotels. Office blocks and plazas of a few floors are the typical building, with some converted houses between them. Activity is steady through the working day and continues into the evening around the restaurants and hotels.

Behind the frontage, Opebi is one of the more residential parts of central Ikeja. The side streets hold older blocks of flats, detached houses on reasonable plots, newer terraces and apartment blocks on redeveloped plots, serviced apartments and short-let flats. Many of the closes have street gates and a security levy, and they are noticeably quieter than the main road.

Getting around from Opebi Road

Opebi Road is a through route between central Ikeja and Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, so it is slow at peak hours, and the Allen and Toyin junction is the usual queue. The link to Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way is the great convenience: it gives a direct way out towards Maryland and Ikorodu Road, and from there to the Third Mainland Bridge and Lagos Island, without going back through Allen Avenue. Buses, tricycles and ride-hailing cars are easy to find. Alausa, Computer Village, Ikeja City Mall and the airport are all close.
