Offers that fill longer stays

The short answer

Give guests a discount for long stays, or free nights, or both offers. A guest never gets both. They get whichever saves them more.

What you will learn

  • How to set up to 3 discounts for longer stays.
  • How a free-nights offer works.
  • Why a guest gets "the better of the two, never both".
  • What is never made cheaper.

Set up an offer, step by step

  1. Step 1: Open your listing’s edit page.

Go to "Listings List" and open your short let. The offers are in the short-let parts of the form.

  2. Step 2: Find "Offer a discount on longer stays".

You can set up to 3 tiers. A tier is one step: a number of nights and a discount.

  3. Step 3: Fill in "Tier 1:".

Type the nights and the discount, like 7 nights and 10%. 10% off means ₦10 off every ₦100. The form shows "Guests will see:" and the words guests read.

  4. Step 4: Add more tiers, if you like.

Each tier needs more nights and a bigger discount than the one before. Turn on Tier 2 before you add Tier 3.

  5. Step 5: Fill in the "Free nights offer", if you want one.

Type a number in "Nights stayed" and in "Free nights". Fill in both, or leave both empty.

Free nights offer with Stay 5 nights, get 1 free, and Guests will see: Stay 5 nights, get 1 free
  6. Step 6: Save the listing.

Offers are part of the listing. So our team approves them before guests see them.

How discount tiers work

A guest gets the biggest tier they reach. It counts for all their nights.

Say Tier 1 is 7 nights for 10% off. A guest who stays 7 nights or more gets 10% off every night.

A second tier needs more nights and more than 10% off. The form tells you if a number is wrong.

How free nights work

Say you type 5 and 1. Guests see "Stay 5 nights, get 1 free".

A guest who stays 6 nights pays for 5. A guest who stays 12 nights gets 2 free.

Here is the sum: 12 ÷ (5 + 1) = 2. We always round down. So 11 nights still get 1 free night.

The cheapest nights are the free ones.

The better of the two, never both

A guest books 7 nights at ₦50,000 (fifty thousand naira) a night. That is ₦350,000.

Your 10% discount would take off ₦35,000.

Your free-nights offer would take off one night. That is ₦50,000.

The free night saves more. So the guest gets the free night, not the discount. Their nights cost ₦350,000 − ₦50,000 = ₦300,000.

What is never made cheaper

  • The cleaning fee. That is a fixed amount you add once to each stay.
  • The caution deposit. That is money a guest pays in case something gets damaged.
  • Only the nights get cheaper.

Where guests see your offer

  • A free-nights offer shows in a green line above the calendar.
  • The saving shows in green in the "Price Breakdown". It is named after the offer.
