Booking a shortlet for a party in Lagos
The honest answer first: some hosts allow small gatherings, and some allow no parties at all. There is no "party" filter. So ask the host before you reserve, and book only when the rules fit your plans.

Ask the host before you reserve
House rules appear on your stay page only after the booking is confirmed. That is too late to find out parties are not allowed. So press "Contact Agent" on the listing page and ask:
- Do you allow parties, or only small gatherings?
- How many people can come in total, including visitors who will not sleep over?
- Until what time can we have music and guests?
- Does the estate or building have rules on visitors, gate passes, noise or parking?
- Can we decorate? What must not be moved or used?
- Is the pool, garden or rooftop part of the stay, and can visitors use it?
- What cleaning do you expect from us before we leave?
Keep the answers in the chat. If there is a problem later, a clear "yes" in writing helps.
The guest limit is real
Each home has a guest limit, set by the host. When you choose guests, the booking box will not go past it. It says, for example, "This property takes up to 4 guests."
- Count everyone staying the night, children included.
- The price does not change with the number of guests.
- Visitors who come for a few hours are covered by the house rules, not by the guest number. Ask.
The caution deposit, and what happens after a party
- You pay the host's caution deposit with the booking, if the home has one.
- After you leave, the host checks the home.
- If all is well, the host releases the deposit and it comes back to you.
- If something was damaged or is missing, the host can raise a dispute and ask to keep some or all of it.
- You can reply and add your own photos, videos or PDFs. Our team reads both sides and decides.

Noise, estates and neighbours
If the home is in a gated estate or an apartment building, neighbours are close by. The estate may have its own rules on visitors, gate passes, noise and parking. Your host can tell you what they are. If your plans do not fit, it is better to know before you pay.
When the rules fit: book online
- Pick your check-in and check-out days on the home's calendar, and set the number of guests.
- Press "Reserve". Your dates are held for 30 minutes, and nothing is charged yet.
- Pay securely online through Paystack, in naira. Paystack's fee is added on top, and you see it before you pay.
- Your stay is confirmed at once, or once the host accepts. If the host says no, you get a full refund.

Frequently asked questions
Can I throw a party in a shortlet in Lagos?
Only if the host agrees. Some hosts allow small gatherings and some allow none. Ask with "Contact Agent" on the listing page before you reserve, and keep the answer in the chat.
Is there a filter for party shortlets?
No. There is no search filter for parties or events. Look for homes with the space you need, such as 3-bedroom homes, and ask each host.
Do visitors count as guests?
The guests you book are everyone staying the night, children included. The booking box will not let you go over the host's limit. Whether visitors can come for a few hours is up to the house rules, so ask first.
Will I lose my caution deposit after a party?
Not if nothing is damaged or missing. After you leave, the host checks the home. They release the deposit, or raise a dispute with evidence. You can reply with your own photos, and our team decides. Take photos when you arrive and before you leave.
Can a host keep more than the deposit?
Through Cabans, the most a host can ask to keep is the caution deposit itself, and only when our team agrees. Nothing is kept until the team decides.
Can I cancel if the party plans change?
Yes, for free until the deadline the booking box shows before you pay. You then get a 100% refund of the booking. Paystack’s payment fee is not refunded. It reaches you within 14 days at most, and usually in about 5 days.
