What makes a Lekki shortlet cost more or less
The zone
Phase 1 usually costs the most; Chevron, Ikate and Osapa sit in the middle; Ajah and Sangotedo usually cost the least.
Your dates
November to early January is Lekki's busiest time, with December the peak. Hosts can set higher prices for busy days.
Size and extras
More bedrooms, a pool, a gym, a sea view or daily cleaning all push the price up.
Power
24-hour power with diesel included costs more, but a home that charges diesel on top can end up dearer overall.
How long you stay
Some hosts offer a longer-stay discount or free nights. You get whichever saves you more, never both.
Fees on top of the nights
A host may add a cleaning fee and a refundable caution deposit. Paystack’s payment fee is added when you pay. The booking box shows all of it first.

What to expect — and what to confirm
Lekki short let quality varies widely. Check these before you pay.
Always confirm before booking
Generator backup
Full-time generator with diesel included, diesel charged on top, or grid power only? This is the most important question for a Lagos short let. A Lekki apartment without full generator cover is a much weaker home — clarify this first.
Air conditioning
Confirm that every room has air conditioning, including the bedroom(s). Portable units in some Lekki short lets are underpowered. If you are staying more than a few nights, ask about the bedroom unit.
Internet / WiFi speed
Ask for the internet plan or provider (for example fibre or a 4G MiFi). Many Lekki short lets use MiFi hotspots, which can be unreliable at busy times or when the building's fibre is down.
Water supply
Confirm that borehole water is available all day and that hot water works in the bathroom. Ground-floor units in some buildings can have low pressure. Instant electric heaters can trip when the grid goes off before the generator starts.

Housekeeping
Daily or alternate-day housekeeping is common in managed Lekki blocks. In simpler homes, cleaning may be weekly or on request. Check the listing or ask the host.
Linen and towels
Fresh linen and towels are standard. For stays longer than a few nights, ask how often they are changed.
Security
24-hour reception or security is standard in managed blocks. Confirm whether building access uses a key card and whether parking is inside the estate or on the street.
TV and streaming
Most managed Lekki short lets include a smart TV with a satellite TV subscription, and streaming apps are increasingly common.

How to avoid the most common problems.
Book December early
Lekki short lets are busiest from mid-November to early January, when Christmas, New Year and visitors from abroad fill Phase 1 and Chevron. Book your December dates weeks ahead. Hosts can set higher prices for busy days, so check the night prices on the calendar.
Stay longer to pay less a night
Many Lekki hosts offer a longer-stay discount, such as “7+ nights, 10% off”, or free nights, such as “Stay 5 nights, get 1 free”. When you book online, the booking box applies the offer for you and shows the new total.
Compare the full total, not the night price
The night price may not be the whole cost. On Cabans the booking box shows the nights, any cleaning fee and any refundable caution deposit, and Paystack’s payment fee is added when you pay. For a stay arranged any other way, ask about diesel, cleaning and deposits before you agree.
Check the cancellation deadline before paying
Every shortlet you book online on Cabans has a free-cancellation deadline set by the host, shown before you pay. Cancel before it and you get back 100% of your booking. Paystack’s payment fee is not refunded. Refunds reach you within 14 days at most, usually in about 5 days. If you book after the deadline, the stay cannot be cancelled.
