Central Ikeja: Computer Village and Obafemi Awolowo Way

Central Ikeja is built around Obafemi Awolowo Way, which runs from the Alausa side to Ikeja Under Bridge. Computer Village, the large phone and electronics market, fills the streets near the Under Bridge end, and Ikeja Along, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, is the bus stop most commuters from the western mainland use. The commercial triangle: Allen Avenue, Opebi and Toyin Street

Toyin Street is the third side of the triangle, looping from the same junction back towards central Ikeja. It is mainly commercial, with hotels, offices and eateries, and a smaller stock of flats behind the frontage.

The government side: Alausa, Agidingbi and Oregun

Alausa is the seat of the Lagos State Government: the Secretariat and the House of Assembly are here, and so is Ikeja City Mall. It is an office district first, with limited housing, so most people who work here live in the areas around it.

Ikeja GRA and the airport side

Ikeja GRA is the planned, low-density estate between Obafemi Awolowo Way and Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. Isaac John Street, Joel Ogunnaike Street and Oduduwa Crescent are among its best-known addresses, with wide tree-lined streets, large plots, serviced apartments, hotels and restaurants. The airport side. Murtala Muhammed International Airport and its domestic terminals are in Ikeja, and Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way is the main road between the airport, the GRA and Maryland. Airline and airport staff who want an Ikeja address usually look at the GRA, Opebi and the streets off Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. The Agege side: Adeniyi Jones and Ogba

Adeniyi Jones takes its name from the avenue that runs from Oba Akran Avenue towards Ogba, with Aromire Avenue linking it to the Allen roundabout. The avenue carries offices, schools and event centres, and the side streets hold flats and houses. It is a mid-market address, and it is not part of the GRA, whatever an advert says. Ogba is the established residential and commercial district on the side of Ikeja towards Agege and Ojodu. It has more tenement and older block housing than the rest of Ikeja, with newer flats among them, and it is where many Ikeja workers find a rent they can manage. Maryland is in Ikeja Local Government Area, at the junction where Ikorodu Road meets Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. It is a commercial and residential district anchored by Maryland Mall, with a BRT stop on Ikorodu Road, and it is the side of Ikeja with the easiest run towards Yaba and the Island.
